Going to London later this week. Any luthier related stuff to see/do/buy? Any shops that carry tools, purfling/binding, tonewood, guitars that can't be found in the US? Any shops I should visit? Builders I should seek out? |

Herrmmm. . . . why? It's just like a lot of crap places in the world. Actually, the outbacks of Montana seems a lot more like heaven from where I'm stood. But the grass is always Greener, the snow is always Whiter, the Spruce is always. . . |

I don't pretend to know much about the "luthier scene" in London but, just in case you hadn't heard of it, you can stop by Denmark Street for an hour or two. It isn't what it was by all accounts but still worth a visit. (Just a few guitar shops really, not luthieries) Better to find out what music events are on and go to them than to try to search out tonewood or tools. As far as I know at least. Maybe someone can advise better. Hope you enjoy your stay! Maybe one day my workshop will be worth a visit ![]() |

No need for excusing! I love an Anglophile. I count myself as a bit of a "Yankophile", personally, as I've grown up on American music and film. There are plenty of things to like and dislike, same as everywhere else! ![]() |

Touchstone Tonewoods are in Reigate, 22 miles from "London", the real distance depending on where Google Maps considers the centre of London or where you are in London. http://www.touchstonetonewoods.co.uk/ab ... ut-us.aspx Keystone Tonewoods are in Southend-0n-sea about 41 miles from London. http://www.guitartonewoods4luthiers.co.uk/ You can visit the world's longest (1.33 miles) pleasure pier whilst you are there. David Dyke Luthier Supplies is in Heathfield, East Sussex, 53 miles from London, not very far compare with the U.S.A to England. http://www.luthierssupplies.co.uk/ |

Thanks a lot. I appreciate the replies. If anyone is ever visiting NYC I'd recommend you stop by Tools For Working Wood in Brooklyn. Well worth the trip. http://www.toolsforworkingwood.com/ |
